Andy Benzo

Andy Benzo is a highly skilled legal and language expert with over 35 years of experience in English-Spanish translation. She holds degrees in Law and Translation from Argentina. She has been a member of the American Translators Association (ATA) since 1990 and is ATA-certified. She has held several leadership roles throughout her career, including Chair of the Divisions Committee and Governance and Communications Committee. Currently, she serves as the President-Elect of the ATA. Andy is enthusiastic about standards and collaborates in language development, serving on ASTM and ISO committees. She has also taught legal translation at UCSD and is a regular speaker on topics such as U.S. Law and Civil Law. Her passions include Law, Language, and Technology, and she is committed to excellence.

With a strong foundation in engineering and construction, Blair has played a pivotal role in the development of over 4.86 million square feet of building projects. Currently, at Surespan Group, Blair combines technical expertise with leadership skills to deliver impactful data-driven solutions.

There, she designed programs such as the University Diploma in Plain Language, the Technical Degree in Digital Text Editing, and the Master’s Degree in Text Copyediting.

She is involved in research and supervises doctoral theses. She has worked as a language consultant, copyeditor, and editor for institutions like the Public Translators Association of Buenos Aires and the Vicente López Municipality.

She coordinates projects at CAL, Correctología y Asesoramiento Lingüístico, and serves as a language consultant for the Plain Language Program of Buenos Aires, contributing to the development of CLAPPI, an Inclusive Public Policy Language Tool. She is currently pursuing research in AI and information science at the University at Buffalo. She has taken to heart the meme “AI will not replace you, a professional using AI will” and is intent on sharing productive and responsible ways of using this new technology.

He has over 28 years of experience in the localization industry, serving as a localization manager and co-founder and president of Logrus Global, a boutique language service and technology firm. At Logrus Global, Serge leads the company's AI/ML research team and serves as the technical contact for a new ASTM holistic translation quality standard. He has also served three times on the GALA Board and is the US ANSI expert representative for ISO. Recently, Logrus Global released free hLEPOR automatic metrics on www.pypi.org and the Paralela AI-based aligner product, and won second place in the Biomedical WMT 2022 ClinSpEn MT training challenge.

Valeria Magalí Colella

She is a digital publications editor and a legal copyeditor. With a background in Modern Literature, Design, and Journalism, she holds a postgraduate degree in Creative Ventures Management (UNC) and a diploma in Arts and Culture Management (Fundación Graduados UNC).

With over twenty years of experience in text correction, editing, and institutional communication for companies and academic organizations, she has worked for institutions such as Actualidad Jurídica, Alveroni Ediciones, and several universities like UNC, UNTREF, and US21. She has led creative projects for e-Literalia and Verba Volant, Scripta Manent.

Currently, she coordinates projects at CAL, Correctología y Asesoramiento Lingüístico, and VaCo Digital Publications and Legal Copyediting. She also works as a language consultant for the Plain Language Program at the City of Buenos Aires' Legal and Technical Secretariat, contributing to projects like CLAPPI. Her focus is on integrating digital tools and AI into text correction, including fine-tuning generative models and developing datasets for training.

Valeria Magalí Colella

She is a digital publications editor and legal copyeditor with a background in Modern Literature, Design, and Journalism. Holding a postgraduate degree in Creative Ventures Management (UNC), she has over 20 years of experience in text editing and institutional communication for organizations like Actualidad Jurídica, Alveroni Ediciones, and various universities.

Currently, she coordinates projects at CAL and VaCo Digital Publications, and works as a language consultant for Buenos Aires' Plain Language Program. Her focus is on integrating AI and digital tools into text correction, including fine-tuning generative models and developing training datasets.
